Applications
Kitchen & Bath
Kitchen and bathroom cabinets sit in a humid interior: splashes and steam, not standing water. Ningfeng supplies EN 312 P3 moisture-resistant particleboard for that exact condition, a furniture-grade, non-load-bearing board with 24-hour thickness swelling of 14% or less, tested to EN 317. Moisture-resistant (MR) MDF and melamine-faced board laminated onto a P3 substrate complete the range for carcasses, doors and pre-finished components.
P3 is a furniture grade, not a structural or exterior grade. Ningfeng's structural humid grades are quoted as make-to-order projects; specify P3 for standard kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, and talk to our team before specifying anything load-bearing in a wet area.

Moisture-Resistant Particleboard (EN 312 P3)
The standard specification for kitchen and bathroom cabinet carcasses and shelving: a non-load-bearing furniture grade with 24-hour thickness swelling of 14% or less per EN 317, built for splashes and steam rather than standing water.
View specifications →Moisture-Resistant (MR) MDF
MR MDF's dense, void-free core is specified for doors, fronts and any humid-interior part that will be routed, profiled or lacquered, where P3 particleboard's coarser core would not finish as cleanly.
View specifications →Melamine-Faced Board on MR Substrate
Melamine facing laminated onto the P3 / MR substrate from Ningfeng's own lamination plant, so kitchen and bathroom cabinet components arrive pre-finished and ready for edge-banding.

P3 is tested and rated for humid interior furniture use: cabinet carcasses, doors and shelving in kitchens and bathrooms where the board meets air moisture and occasional splashing, not submersion. The EN 317 test measures 24-hour thickness swelling after soaking; Ningfeng's P3 board holds 14% or less.
P3 is not a structural or exterior grade. It does not carry load-bearing spans, and it is not specified for exterior cladding, flooring underlay in wet rooms, or any application touching standing water. Structural humid grades are available from Ningfeng as a make-to-order project.
Kitchen & Bath FAQs
Is EN 312 P3 particleboard waterproof?
No. P3 is a moisture-resistant furniture grade for humid interior conditions such as splashes and steam, with 24-hour thickness swelling of 14% or less per EN 317. It is not a waterproof or exterior board, and standing water or continuous wetting will still damage it.
Can P3 particleboard carry structural or load-bearing weight in a bathroom?
No. P3 is a non-load-bearing furniture grade. Structural humid grades are available from Ningfeng as a make-to-order project; contact our team before specifying anything load-bearing in a wet area.
What is the difference between P3 particleboard and MR MDF for kitchen cabinets?
Both are moisture-resistant furniture grades for the same humid-interior use. P3 particleboard typically carries carcasses and shelving; MR MDF's denser, void-free core is specified for doors, fronts and any part that will be routed, profiled or lacquered.
Does melamine facing come on the moisture-resistant substrate?
Yes. Ningfeng laminates melamine facing onto the P3 / MR substrate from its own lamination plant, so cabinet components arrive pre-finished and ready for edge-banding in kitchen and bathroom runs.
