Panels built on wood residue, certified to prove it
Engineered wood panels exist because sawmills and plantations produce more residue than lumber. Ningfeng turns plantation thinnings, offcuts and chips into furniture-grade particleboard, MDF and HDF, over 3.6 million m³ a year, and holds the certifications that let buyers verify the claim: FSC chain-of-custody, ISO 14001 environmental management and China Environmental Labelling.
The same programme covers what leaves the panel: ENF formaldehyde-free board, produced at scale since 2021, sits at the top of a grade ladder that runs from E1 through E0, CARB P2 and JIS F★★★★.
The circular logic
More furniture per tree
A log becomes lumber, and roughly half of it becomes residue: chips, shavings, thinnings too small to saw. Panel production picks that stream up. Pressed into particleboard, MDF or HDF, residue wood carries cabinets, floors and doors through a full service life, storing the carbon the tree captured while new plantation growth replaces it.
This is why panel mills cluster near plantations and timber industry, and why Ningfeng's eight bases sit across Shandong, Henan, Jiangsu, Anhui and Hubei: short distances between residue supply and the press line.
Raw material
Plantation wood, tracked from the yard
Log yards and chip stores feed each base from its surrounding region. FSC chain-of-custody covers the path from certified forest to finished panel, so an FSC order stays documented end to end. Specify FSC at enquiry and the certificate follows the shipment file.
Clean production
Managed to ISO 14001, visible from the road
Every base runs dedicated dust-collection and air-handling systems; the cyclone towers are the tallest structures on most of our sites. Environmental management is certified to ISO 14001, and products carry China Environmental Labelling, the national ecolabel for verified lower-impact goods.
On the product side, the ENF grade removes added formaldehyde resin from the equation entirely. Since 2021 Ningfeng has produced formaldehyde-free board at production scale, an option buyers can specify on any panel family. Grades and certificates are detailed on the Quality & Standards page.
Sustainability questions buyers ask
What wood goes into Ningfeng panels?
Plantation wood and processing residue: thinnings, offcuts and chips that would otherwise leave the value chain. Engineered panels are the industry’s way of turning that residue stream into furniture-grade material, and Ningfeng’s eight bases sit in five provinces close to where it is produced.
Is FSC-certified board available?
Yes. Ningfeng Group holds FSC chain-of-custody certification; specify FSC when you enquire and the order is documented accordingly. ISO 14001 environmental management and China Environmental Labelling certification apply across production.
What does ENF mean for indoor air?
ENF is China’s strictest formaldehyde class (GB/T 39600-2021, ≤ 0.025 mg/m³), produced with no added formaldehyde resin systems. Ningfeng has produced ENF board at scale since 2021 and offers it across particleboard, MDF and HDF.
Specify FSC or ENF on your next order
Both are standard options across the Ningfeng range. Tell us the grade and volume; the documentation follows the order.
